Sorry folks, Uncle John's cane syrup is no longer available. John Joyner died on May 27, 2008 at the age of 96. He had retired from production of cane syrup a few years ago but Canesyrup.com was continued for its other features. John was a loving family man with many talents and a great sense of humor. Besides being a farmer, he was the retired hospital administrator of Pierce County Hospital in Blackshear, Georgia. While addressing a convention of hospital administrators one time, he made them a wager that he was the only one amongst them who could plow parallel furrows behind a mule. During WWII, John worked at Gibbs Shipyard in Jacksonville, Florida building wooden minesweepers. Among his many hobbies were sailing, motorcycle riding and singing in a barbershop quartet. He taught himself to play the piano keyboard and became quite a proficient musician. While in his mid eighties he frequently took his keyboard to the local nursing home to "entertain the old people" as he put it. He read the bible twice from cover to cover and had a great respect for the US Constitution.

Canesyrup.com will continue as a memorial to John Joyner. Please click back and scroll through the site. Thanks, Jack
